Piemonte is Italy's most advanced and skilled aerospace region and home to the country's five most prominent actors : Alenia Aeronautica, Thales Alenia Space, Avio, Galileo Avionica and Microtecnica. These large companies have all extensive cooperation agreements with the Torino Politecnico University, a serious reference in aerospace, as well as the Torino Engineering Association, with over 5500 members. In addition to this, the region boasts the presence of an industry specialised in the production of components and functional systems and a large number of SMEs and technical service companies.

 
 

The five Piedmontese aerospace companies participate with the sector's leading international firms, take part in the most innovative programmes: A380, B787 Dreamliner, Typhoon, the new JSF fighter, the space station, the Crew Exploration Vehicle, the GOCE satellite, and the largest European rocket launcher, Ariane 5.
